Jennifer Lopez says she and Ben Affleck have 'PTSD' from media scrutiny of first relationship

Jennifer Lopez has admitted that she and husband Ben Affleck have been left with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) due to the intense media attention around their first attempt at a relationship together.

The Jenny From The Block singer, 54, said she and the Hypnotic actor, 51, both still have a lot to mentally unpack after their early romance ended abruptly.

“But we’re older now,” she told Variety. “We’re wiser. We also know what’s important, what’s really important in life, and it’s not so much what other people think. It’s about being true to who you are.”

Lopez and Affleck initially dated in the early 2000s after meeting on the set of their first movie together, Gigli, which was released in 2003. They teamed up again in 2004 for the flick Jersey Girl. Bennifer, as they were often called, came to an end not long after they called off their wedding in 2003. The relationship was rekindled in 2021 before marrying in Las Vegas in 2022.

In-between that time, Affleck went on to marry actress Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children – Violet Anne, 18, Seraphina Rose, 14, and Samuel, 11.

Lopez meanwhile has 15-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex Marc Anthony.

Teasing the publication about the possibility of her and Affleck sharing the screen again, saying: “We love being together and working together,” she remarked. “So, yeah, you never know.”

For now, she is gearing up for the release of This Is Me… Now, a new album that marks the 20th anniversary of This Is Me…Then, on February 16. The record and companion film document her romance with Affleck.
