The Traitors season 2 release date confirmed in first look

After taking the country by storm in 2022, a release date has been confirmed for The Traitors season 2

The first season of The Traitors saw an average audience of 5.4M across all audiences, becoming a nationwide sensation in the build-up to Christmas 2022.

The murder-mystery-style TV show saw 22 strangers compete in a series of missions for a chance to win £120,000.

However, three of them were selected to be Traitors, secretly chosen to sow discord and sabotage the Faithfuls.

Each night, the Traitors could kill one Faithful. On their part, the Faithfuls could vote at roundtable sessions to exile someone they believed was a Traitor.

By the end of the game, if any Traitors remained, they received the prize pot. If the Faithfuls alone remained, the money was split between them.

The tense format attracted a huge viewership, so it's no surprise that another season is being created. Here's everything we know so far.

When is The Traitors Season 2 coming out?

The Traitors season 2 will be released on January 4, 2024. This marks a change from last year, where it aired in the build-up to Christmas.

The first episode will air on BBC One at 9pm, with episodes 2 and 3 available on iPlayer immediately after.

The show will continue to air on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights from then on.

Who is in the cast of The Traitors Season 2?

The cast has not yet been confirmed but we do know that Claudia Winkleman will return to present the show, complete in her now-iconic cape.

Introducing The Traitors: Uncloaked

In addition, a new element will be added this year in the form of a visual podcast called The Traitors: Uncloaked.

Hosted by award-winning stand-up comedian and presenter Ed Gamble, the podcast will take fans of the show through a dissection of the episodes, with exclusive access to the banished and murdered players.

As soon as viewers have finished with the latest episode of The Traitors on BBC One, they can join Ed, cast members and celebrity guests on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer for analysis and reactions to the latest drama.

Each episode will feature an exclusive interview with the contestants who are banished and 'murdered' along the way, and bonus unseen footage where they learn the identity of the Traitors for the first time.

The episodes will air on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer, and an extended version with additional guests, further theories, and essential analysis will be available on BBC Sounds.
